My husband and I have been together for 44 years, married for almost 40. Like many couples of our generation and middle class upbringing, we lived a "linear" life -- we went to college, then got married, immediately built a family, worked hard to give our children a brighter future. Somewhere along the way, we lost who we were as a couple
My husband and I have been together for 44 years, married for almost 40. Like many couples of our generation and middle class upbringing, we lived a "linear" life -- we went to college, then got married, immediately built a family, worked hard to give our children a brighter future. Somewhere along the way, we lost who we were as a couple.
Marrying at the young age of 21 and being saddled with all the responsibilities, demands, and stressors of raising our four children and our careers, going through the crises of the 20s, 30s, and mid-life -- we almost lost each other, until we made a conscientious and inspired decision to re-invest in our relationship.
Re-investing in a relationship and in each other does not just mean taking big vacations and grand adventures. It also in entails purposely nurturing the relationship in our everyday life -- the routine, the ordinary. What seem to be mundane moments of each day can be extraordinary, magical, and truly transformative.
We are now in our early 60s, have availed of early retirement to have more time to pursue other things we are passionate about. Doc Rene is doing part time Locum Tenens work as a traveling surgeon helping fill staffing needs of hospitals in different towns and cities in the United States. I am his communications and marketing executive assistant and I travel with him to all his assignments.
I have also now transitioned from broadcast and print journalism to storytelling on my digital platforms -- working on my blogs, video channel, and a travel podcast which I co-host with my husband. I talk about things we are passionate about - public service, relationships, health, life hacks, travels, food and wine.
I read somewhere that to find our true calling, we have to look at our scars that remind us of our pains and struggles and how we transcended them by the grace of God.
This is at the core of what " Travels for Two" is all about.
My mission is to share our travel experiences and relationship hacks, provide valuable travel information and tips to my readers. I believe that travel is one of the best ways to learn about the world and ourselves, expand our horizons, broaden our minds, and grow together in each new discovery.

My mission is to share our travel experiences and relationship hacks, provide valuable travel information and tips to my readers. I believe that travel is one of the best ways to learn about the world and ourselves, expand our horizons, broaden our minds, and grow together in each new discovery.
We do not claim to be relationship nor travel experts, but we hope to inspire other couples with our own transcending experiences so they, too, may be inspired to work together toward living their best years still ahead of them together a day at a time. An adventure at a time.
I started Travels For Two to share our passion for travel and to connect with other travelers around the world. I hope we can inspire other couples and help them live their best and most exciting life yet, even after being together for a long time. We aspire to build a community where we can all inspire and help one another as we travel through the years.
